Samsung Refrigerators

Find your layout, locate the model label and see which first checks are safe before you book a visit.

At a glance

Overview

Samsung refrigerators in San Francisco and around the Bay Area range from compact top-freezer units in rental flats to wide French-door and side-by-side models in remodeled kitchens. Pick your layout below, find the model label, and then move on to the Samsung refrigerator repair page when a symptom keeps coming back.

The refrigerator lineup we work on

The catalog covers three layouts. French-door models are the largest group and the prefix RF identifies them. Side-by-side units start with RS, and top-freezer units start with RT. Series names appear only where one applies: Bespoke and Family Hub.

Where to find the model label

On most refrigerators the label sits on an inside wall of the fresh-food section, often near the top corner or beside a shelf rail. Some units carry it along the door frame instead. Take a clear photo of it before you call, because the full model number tells a technician which ice maker, fan layout and control board to expect. If you are unsure how to read it, the guide on finding your Samsung model number walks through it.

Complaints we hear most

  • The freezer is cold but the fresh-food section runs warm, which often points to airflow or the defrost system rather than a failed compressor.
  • Ice stops dropping, the ice maker freezes into a block, or the dispenser delivers a trickle. The post on an ice maker that freezes up covers the checks.
  • Water collects under the crisper drawers or sweats around the door seals.
  • A fan hums, ticks or rattles after a defrost cycle.
  • The door alarm sounds even though both doors are shut.
  • A Family Hub screen goes dark or stops responding to touch.

Codes shown on the display

Samsung refrigerators report faults as short codes on the control panel. A few examples: 5E is a defrost sensor error, 21E is a freezer fan error, 14E points to the ice maker sensor, and 85E is a compressor under-voltage error that can follow a brown-out. Two codes are not faults at all: OF OF means Cooling Off or demo mode, and AP is the Wi-Fi setup mode. Write down exactly what you see, then browse the full error code library.

Safe first steps at home

  1. Confirm the plug is seated and the outlet or breaker has power, and make sure the unit is not in a display or demo mode.
  2. Close both doors firmly and check that no bin, shelf or package props a door open or blocks the gasket.
  3. Look at the water supply valve behind or beside the refrigerator if the dispenser or ice maker stopped.
  4. Clear food away from the interior vents so air can move between sections.
  5. Do one controlled power reset at the outlet, wait a short while, and plug it back in.

Do not open rear panels, remove the evaporator cover or touch sealed refrigeration lines. Smoke, sparking or a burning smell means you should switch the circuit off at the breaker and leave the unit alone.

Next steps

If the symptom survives those checks, request a visit through the contact page. We diagnose first, give you a written estimate, and repair nothing without your approval. The full process is on the Samsung refrigerator repair page, and the post on food freezing in the fresh-food section helps if that is your issue.
