A 22 cu ft Family Hub side-by-side where frost, ice and the smart screen make up most complaints.
The RS22T5561SR/AA is a Family Hub side-by-side refrigerator, listed by Samsung as current at 22 cu ft. The RS prefix means the freezer and fresh-food sections stand next to each other, each with a tall narrow door.
A side-by-side freezer is tall and narrow, so food stacked against the back or the vents can choke airflow. Frost near the rear wall and ice sticking to the bin both tend to follow. If frost returns soon after clearing it, the defrost system should be checked; see 5E, the fridge defrost sensor error.
With a dispenser in the door, a freezing-up ice maker gets noticed fast: see ice maker freezes up and the bucket is stuck. As a Family Hub unit it also carries a screen. If the display stops responding, there is codes 41 and 42 for that.
Please do not pour hot water into the freezer or use sharp tools on frost.
Side-by-side doors need clearance on the hinge side. In galley kitchens common in older San Francisco buildings, check that the door can open wide enough for the bins to be pulled out. We confirm the model, diagnose before repair, and provide a written estimate. Read Samsung refrigerator repair and Samsung refrigerators.
The ice chute and dispenser flap sit in a cold door, where a little moisture can refreeze and glue things shut. If cubes stop dropping, do not pry the flap; remove the bin, check for a fused lump, and let the freezer rest with the door closed. A technician can check the ice maker, the chute heater and the door seal that lets damp air in. Mention how long the problem has lasted and whether the water also slowed down.
If you rent, send your property manager the model number and a photo of the symptom; it speeds up access and approval.
It marks a side-by-side refrigerator, with the freezer and fresh-food sections next to each other.
The defrost cycle may not be finishing. A technician checks the heater, sensor and control.
They share power and control, but a dead screen alone does not always mean a cooling fault. Check the temperatures by touch.
Keep doors closed and book soon; perishables are the risk, not the unit.
