Samsung Ranges and Ovens

See the gas, induction and dual-fuel lineup, read the label and follow the safe checks first.

At a glance

Overview

A freestanding Samsung range is a gas or induction cooktop sitting on top of an oven, with a touch or knob panel connecting the two. In San Francisco apartments the range is often the only cooking appliance, so a failure disrupts the whole household quickly.

Ranges

The prefix NSG marks gas ranges, NSI induction ranges and NSY the dual-fuel model. All are Bespoke, and the dual-fuel unit also carries Flex Duo.

Where the label hides

The label is usually on the frame around the oven opening, often visible when the oven door is fully open, or on a drawer front edge below it. Photograph it with the full number in view.

Problems we see

  • A gas burner will not light, or the igniter keeps clicking after the flame is on. Both have their own posts: burner will not ignite and igniter keeps clicking.
  • The oven bakes unevenly or takes a long time to preheat.
  • An induction zone ignores the pan; see pan detection.
  • The oven door will not lock or unlock.
  • The panel is unresponsive or buttons seem stuck.

Codes

The range codes we document include C-20 for a sensor malfunction, C-d1 for a door lock malfunction, C-24 for temperature rising faster than normal, often from a blocked vent, and u for pan detection on induction. Pr E is just preheating. More are in the error code library.

Gas safety and owner checks

If you smell gas, leave right away, touch no switches and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. Never work on gas fittings yourself.

  1. Check the breaker for the range and make sure the plug is fully pushed in at the back.
  2. For a gas model, confirm the shutoff valve handle is in its open position.
  3. Wipe spills around the burner caps and make sure the caps sit flat.
  4. Clear the vent at the back of the cooktop and move pots that block it.
  5. Cancel any lock or demo setting on the panel, then restart once.

Request service

After those checks, head to Samsung range and oven repair for the process, or write to us through the contact page. Diagnosis comes first, the estimate is written, and work waits for your approval. If the oven temperature seems off, this oven temperature post explains likely causes.

Hookups and kitchen layout

Gas and electric hookups both matter. A gas range needs a properly connected supply line and shutoff, while an electric or induction range needs a dedicated circuit and a fully seated cord. Anti-tip hardware, a pulled-out range stretching its connection, and a vent hood that traps heat above the cooktop are common in older kitchens. When the range sits in a narrow galley, heat buildup behind the cooktop can also trigger a protective code.

Dual-fuel models combine a gas cooktop with an electric oven, so both services need to be healthy. Tell us the fuel type, the model number and when the problem started.
