About this model

Model overview

Samsung lists the NSG6DG8500MTAA as a current Bespoke gas range, 6.0 cu ft. If your kitchen has this one, the ending of the model number is the part to copy down exactly when you contact us, because it separates this range from its neighbors in the lineup.

When the oven is the problem

Ovens on gas ranges usually complain in one of three ways. Heat comes up slowly, the cabinet bakes unevenly, or the oven shuts down partway through a long roast. Each points somewhere different. A slow climb often traces to the bake burner struggling to light or to a sensor reading wrongly. Uneven browning can come from a rack blocking airflow or a convection path that is not moving air as it should. A mid-cycle shutdown makes a technician think about the safety side of the gas valve and the controls.

Two of our troubleshooting notes cover this ground: an oven that takes too long to preheat and an oven that bakes unevenly.

Cooktop side

On the burners, look for flames that are yellow, lazy or lopsided. They tell you more than a click does. Spilled sauce under a burner cap can partly block gas ports, and a cap set a hair off center throws the flame sideways. These are cleaning and seating fixes you can do yourself with the range cool.

Safe checks, in order

  1. Take everything out of the oven, including loose foil, so air and heat can move.
  2. Check the racks sit flat and level on their guides.
  3. Make sure the door closes evenly all the way around and the gasket is not folded.
  4. Try one controlled power reset at the breaker, leave it off briefly, then restore it.
  5. Write down any display message exactly as shown.

Do not remove the back or lower panels, do not touch gas fittings, and do not bypass anything. If you ever smell gas, leave at once, avoid switches, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside.

Fitting in a San Francisco kitchen

Many Bay Area kitchens have ranges set against tile or a narrow pass-through, so access matters. Tell us if the range sits in a tight space, a rental with limited approval for changes, or behind a stove guard, and we plan the visit accordingly.

Next steps

Our visit begins with diagnosis, then a written estimate; nothing is repaired until you approve it. Read the Samsung range and oven repair page for the process, and browse Samsung ranges and ovens. For decoding messages, the error codes section lists verified meanings.
