Samsung Washer E4 and E1 Error Codes

VERIFIED

Error code E4 / E1
Appliance Washer

When no water is coming in

The washer reports E4, or the legacy E1, when it cannot tell that water is filling the drum. Samsung combines current and legacy codes in one list, so meanings can shift by model.

Supply checklist

  • Is the tap open, and is pressure between 0.5 and 8 bar?
  • Are the hoses free of kinks?
  • Are the inlet filters at the end of the water valve clean?

With all of that in order, contact Samsung support.

E4 on an older washer: unbalanced drum

A legacy E4 stands in for UE. The spin halts as a safety measure; nothing is broken. Spread the laundry around the drum. When one bulky item is alone in there, put 2 or 3 towels in with it and spin once more.

Related codes

  • E3 is a legacy overflow.
  • E8 concerns the hose being on the hot supply.
  • E7 is a water level sensor issue.

Washer repair help around the Bay Area

A washer in San Francisco or elsewhere in the Bay Area that still shows this code after the supply checks can go to Samsung washer repair. Phone (415) 969-6153 and have the code, the model number and the tap, hose and filter checks you completed to hand.

Model compatibility: Samsung reuses codes across series and model years, so E4 / E1 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

Plain language

What this code means

E4 and E1 mean the washer does not sense water entering; a legacy E4 instead means an unbalanced load.

Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
