Samsung Washer E2, bE2, 6E2, BE2, 8E2 Error Code

VERIFIED

Error code E2 / bE2 / 6E2 / BE2 / 8E2
Appliance Washer

Two readings of the same display

A Samsung washer can show E2, bE2, 6E2, BE2 or 8E2 for two unrelated reasons, and which one applies depends on how old the machine is.

  • Current machines: a button on the control panel is jammed, so the washer believes it is being pressed all the time.
  • Older machines: E2 is the former label for 5E, meaning the water is not draining.

Some models treat BE2 and 8E2 as a Mems sensor error instead of a button fault. Your user manual tells you which meaning belongs to your model.

Freeing a stuck button

  1. Switch the washer off.
  2. Press one panel button at a time.
  3. While pressing it, rock it back and forth so each edge gets touched, then let go.
  4. Repeat for every button on the panel.

Ask for service when a button looks damaged or when the code comes back as soon as the washer is powered up again.

If the washer is an older one: no drain

For the legacy E2, Samsung lists the following:

  • Clean the drain pump filter.
  • Look along the drain hose and the waste connection for kinks or a blockage.
  • Start a spin cycle so any leftover water is pumped out.

Contact Samsung support if the fault stays after that. As with all legacy entries, meanings can differ between models.

Nearby legacy codes

  • E3 is the older overflow display.
  • E4 and E1 cover a water supply fault.
  • Ed is the older door code.

Service for your Samsung washer in San Francisco

Samsung washer owners in San Francisco and around the Bay Area can book through Samsung washer repair or by phone at (415) 969-6153. Mention E2 or the exact variant on the display, the model number, and whether you already freed each panel button.

Model compatibility: Samsung reuses codes across series and model years, so E2 / bE2 / 6E2 / BE2 / 8E2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

Plain language

What this code means

E2, bE2, 6E2, BE2 and 8E2 report a stuck control button, and a legacy E2 reports a drain failure.

Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
