Three readings of the same display
- Samsung US, every generation: a Mems sensor error, which some models describe as a vibration sensor error for 8E and BE.
- BE2 and 8E2: possibly a jammed button, depending on the model; check the manual to be sure.
- Samsung Levant: 8E is listed as overcurrent.
Display variants sorted by prefix: 8E, 8E1, 8E2; BE, BE1, BE2; 8C, 8C1, 8C2; BC, BC1, BC2; also 1 8C, 18C1, 18C2, 1 BC, 1BC1 and 1BC2.
Steps for each reading
Mems sensor
Leave the machine without power for 2 to 3 minutes, power on and start the cycle over; a persisting error means a service request.
Jammed button
Switch the washer off, then work every button individually, rocking it to hit all of its edges before releasing. A damaged button, or a code that returns after power-up, is a case for service.
Overcurrent on the Levant list
Disconnect at the mains for 30 seconds. Support is the contact if the reading persists.

Washer repair for 8E and BE codes in San Francisco
When an 8E or BE code will not clear, San Francisco and Bay Area callers can reach us at (415) 969-6153; the Samsung washer repair page gives an overview. Keep the exact code, the model number and the steps you tried in front of you.
Model compatibility: Samsung reuses codes across series and model years, so 8E, BE, 8C, BC may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
