Samsung Dryer tS, t5, tC, tE Error Code

VERIFIED

Error code tS / t5 / tC / tO / t0 / tE / tE3 / tC5 / tCS / 1 tC / 1tC5 / 1tCS
Appliance Dryer

The t-code family

Twelve readings belong here: tS with t5; tC with tO and t0; tE with tE3; tC5 with tCS; and the numbered forms 1 tC, 1tC5 and 1tCS. Each one is a temperature error: the reading, or the sensors that take it, has a problem.

An upside-down F on the display is really a t, so you are in the right place.

First action

The usual culprit, says Samsung, is a lint screen or vent that is clogged and keeps heat bottled up inside. Clean the screen, the vent, or both.

When the code stays

Once both are clean, an error that is still present means asking for service.

UK additions

  • For tC and tE, Samsung UK names the air temperature sensor. Its suggestions: clean either the lint filter or the heat exchanger, and examine the lint screen for clogging and the vent system for restriction.
  • For tC5 and tE5, the subject is the compressor temperature sensor. Leave the dryer for two to three minutes, switch on again and run a new cycle.

Related codes

  • tE5: compressor temperature sensor problem.
  • tCA: compressor limit temperature sensor error.
  • oD: dry time error.

A temperature code that survives cleaning can go to Samsung dryer repair at (415) 969-6153. Have the exact code, the model number and a note of what you cleaned.

Model compatibility: Samsung reuses codes across series and model years, so tS / t5 / tC / tO / t0 / tE / tE3 / tC5 / tCS / 1 tC / 1tC5 / 1tCS may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
